Second clean sheet see Hanwell Top of Div 2
A complacence Hanwell team made hard work of beating a determined Larkspur side that were bottom of the league and playing with the bear 11 players.
Larkspur played the first half well mainly because of the lack lustre performance of the HTYFC players and a strong favourable wind.
Hanwell playing in an away kit of blue only managed 3 efforts on the Larkspur goal in the 1st half and it only stay 0-0 because of some good defending from the HTYFC back four (Tom Sloley, Kiran Ladhur, Lewis Scully & Albi Balaj), the best chance of the half went to Larkspur when their attacker rounded Tom but the shot to the open goal was saved on the line by the recovering Lewis Scully; this moment changed the game because it seem to wake up the Hanwell players and from then on they started to play with a bit more purpose resulting in some nice passing football.
HT = 0-0
The half time team talk was a strong one, time to grow up and be counted but make sure we keep a clean sheet.
The tough words worked: Patrick Przybysz hit a screamer of a shot from 25 yards only 4 minutes into the second half.
It was a different game from then on; Hanwell started to play with confidence and Larkspur looked like they wanted the final whistle to blow with 30 minutes to play now the wind was out of their sales.
Two minutes after Patrick’s wonder strike it was 2-0 thanks to a one man show from Rene Barnes who beat 4 players on the way getting his 21st goal of the season.
Hanwell then enjoyed playing some fine football with attack after attack and chance after chance, the best coming from an on fire Rene who saw a great shot well saved and another hit the underside of the bar and bounce back off the line.
Hanwell didn’t extend their lead until 21 minutes into the 2nd half. Two goals in 4 minutes from Che Regis seeing his season total rise to 17 all thanks to assists from Adam Bello and Kiran Ladhur. The best of the pair being a quick counter attack from a Larkspur corner.
Rene wrapped the game up when he cut inside beating players for fun to score his second and Hanwell’s fifth.
A good day with 3 points, 5 goals, 0 next to Larkspur (a clean sheet) and back to the top of the league due to other teams not playing. .
MOM = Lewis Scully – a great performance and a game changing header off the line to keep the Hanwell clean sheet.
