Hanwell u12 played only their 4th 11-a-side match ever against Harrow League Div 2 champions who play 11-a-side every week.
A close game but Hanwell used the pitch well making space for each other by holding their positions.
it took only 5 minutes for Hanwell to take the lead, Ted Perrin scoring cooly from the penalty spot after Josh Ruddock's shot was handled in the area.
Micah Ansah added to the scoreline when he out paced the AEW defenders from Tom Sloley's goal kick.
AEW pulled one goal back making it 2-1 before changes were made to the AEW team who were trialling some new players and some Hanwell players asked to play in different positions.
The team played well with no subs available each and every player worked hard for each other and played some nice passing football in parts.
on 20 minutes AEW made 2-2 but from the kick off HTYFC were back in front again from Ted who followed up Micah's saved shot.
In fact if wasn't for the great goal keeping Hanwell would have won easy.
The last ten minutes of the first half saw AEW level again and again Hanwell score straight away this time Albi Balaj with a great and rare header from a super Ted Perrin corner. 4-3 at half time, a great advert for youth football.
The second half started with AEW scoring an equaliser within 2minutes then on the game was scrappy but good goal keeping from both keepers kept the score at 4-4.
Hanwell had to play out the last 7 minutes with only 10 players and Oliver Heyes in goal for the injured Tom who after a brave close range save had a bleeding nose that would stop, especially after his gave him a hot dog roll !!
MOTM: TED PERRIN
Special mention to Brave Tom, Oliver for solid goal keeping and Craig Powell for ref plus our Lines-persons.
Although everyone played as a team and because of that played well.
I was pleased lessons were learnt from the game, me included: 14 in a squad isn't enough !
