Again fitness and strength played apart in this game.
Hanwell started well with most of the procession but Townmead scored with their first attack after 6 minutes and again after 10 minutes.
Hanwell still tried to play football but were not strong enough in their tackling or quick enough to react too win the ball, although Kai Thomas showed great skill and power when he beat three Townmead players to run into the box with the ball, but the choice to shoot from a tight angle instead of passing to two Hanwell players square of him and in front of the goal was the wrong one because the keeper made the save look easy.
Three minutes later Kai was through on goal again this time his shot was better and it beat the keeper but not the bar and so keeping the score to 2-0 at half time.
The second half saw Hanwell fight a bit more but Townmead scored again. But Hanwell then started to play stronger and more physical which had Townmead worried, they did hit Hanwell on the counter attack a few times but Hugo Brazier made some great saves when faced with the 1v1 situations.
Mid way through the second half the Hanwell pressure paid off when after some nice football by Saleem and Ibrahim on the right put Kai in on goal, this time he buried the ball past the keeper and into the corner of the net.
Minutes later Ibrahim had a super shot saved by the Townmead keeper who was at full stretch to put he ball around the post.
The game was wrapped up on 23 minutes when Townmead finally got the better of Hugo with another 1v1.
Not a bad Hanwell performance against a very good team but could have been better, hopefully the players would have learnt from a tough test like this.
MOTM - Kai Thomas. His drive and power lifted the Hanwell team.
Mentions to Hugo for keeping Hanwell in the match with some brave stops and Kinan for great determination also driving his team mates on (and whilst playing with an injured heal).
Goal scorer: Kai
An even tougher match next week to league leaders Ballers FC. Lets be up for this please, get ready to battle.
